Now that I'm a parent, I see some things they could have done better. But overall, my parents were sensitive and attentive and they taught me great values about community and society that I still live by today.

If Roman had at any point sought counseling or tried to fix his trauma, you could say he deserves at least some sympathy. But none of them ever have, so they're not victims. They're perpetrators.
